WorldSSP300’s Julio Garcia on his first win of 2025: "It was a really important win, but I’m focusing on the races to come"
Race 1 at Most saw Spanish rider Julio Garcia earn his second WorldSSP300 race win, placing him 9th all-time for podiums in the Championship
Spanish rider Julio Garcia (Prodina Kawasaki Italka Racing) broke the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship title race wide open at Autodrom Most’s Motul Czech Round. The #48 pipped teammate David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI), who charged up from his P28 start position to finish in P2 just 0.012s behind Garcia. 2024’s fourth-place finisher in the standings briefly seized the Championship lead on Saturday after Race 1, before Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing) took it back from him with his Race 2 win. While Buis currently sits in first place, Garcia is hot on his tail, only three points behind him.
Garcia’s Race 1 win was his second of his WorldSSP300 career. His first came at the last race of the 2024 season. In the #48’s 2024 campaign, he took a big step forward, going from a 17th-place finish in 2023 to fourth place in his second season with Chinese manufacturer Kove. This season, Garcia has found another gear and, less than halfway into the campaign, he is only one podium finish away from equalling his podium tally from 2024, in which his five podiums earned a fourth-place result in the Riders’ Championship.
The Spaniard was pleased to have achieved this benchmark but was focused on the future. Garcia said: “I’m feeling really good because I got the win, it was really difficult because the grid is really big, and it is possible on the last lap to fall down many positions with how close the riders finish. It’s really important to have gotten this win, but I am focusing more on the future and the races to come”.
